I put one of these solar battery maintainers on my personal trailer three FULL years ago and I haven't charged my battery yet!   Not only do I KNOW my alarm battery is always going to be charged, my electric tongue jack will always work but your battery life will be greatly increased as maintainers extend battery life. 

 INSTALLATION  

Installation is easy as you only have two wires and only need two mounting screws to secure it.  Mount the solar battery maintainer on the roof of your trailer (I mounted mine in the center about two feet back from the front) install with two metal screws or bolts (not included) on the ends of the maintainer, then simply drill a small hole in the roof of your trailer to run the two wires through to your trailer 12 volt battery.  I recommend cutting the lead wires about a foot from the maintainer (so you only have to drill a very small hole for them to go through) then reconnecting them later but do NOT  get them backwards ).   The solar maintainer  is NOT weatherproof however the unit can be weatherproofed by using silicone around the edges of the glass frame and around  the plugs to block moisture.  I have already put silicon around the glass frame for you so all you have to do is simply silicone where  the wires come through the trailer roof.  I would recommend checking the silicone every few months as the sun  some times makes the silicone hard and it peels off.   I have only had to re-due the silicone on mine once in 3 years.  Finally, all you have to do now is connect one wire to the positive (+ ) post and the other wire to the negative (-) post on your battery that powers your alarm. Both wires are clearly marked.  But make SURE you have the fuse out of your alarm while doing this installation.  Call me if you have questions. 

The warranty is only 45 days as I do not build these units, I buy them from an outside industrial source.  But mine is still going strong after three years out in the weather.  Just use common sense and a little care and you will be fine.  The Blue LED occasionally may burn out over time.  This will have no negative effect on the proper function of your maintainer. 

The solar battery maintainer has a built in blocking diode that prevents overcharging. The solar battery maintainer charges your battery with power from the sun.  It compensates for slow drain and long periods of non use and on board electronics battery drain.  It is designed to maintain batteries not charge them.  Make sure your battery is fully charged before installing the maintainer.  You CAN extend the wires up to a total of 25 feet without loss of power or voltage.
